Frequently Asked Questions

Natural gas prices are driven by the natural gas commodities market. Some factors that drive the market are supply, demand, weather and crude oil prices.

If you have an emergency, call 911. Any issues with meters, gas delivery, system safety and billing are the responsibility of the distributor (Black Hills) and can be contacted by calling (888) 890-5554.

ACE is the only community-owned natural gas supplier in the Nebraska Choice Gas program. ACE is owned by 75 Nebraska communities and one public power district and is an advocate in the Nebraska Choice Gas program.

Customers who choose a fixed rate per therm price option are choosing a commodity price only.  Distribution charges, taxes and fees will be assessed by the utility and the gas bill will fluctuate with natural gas usage.

ACE WeatherShield™ is one set monthly price that encompasses all commodity, distribution charges, taxes and fees.  The natural gas portion of your bill stays consistent every month, no matter how much or little natural gas you use. To understand why your ACE WeatherShield monthly amount might change please refer to the Terms and Conditions for more details.

ACE is the only community-owned supplier in the Nebraska Choice Gas program. It advocates for consumers and works to enhance the lives of Nebraskans.

While NYMEX prices are available publicly, monthly rates for the non-published CIG index are available only by subscription.

Your control number is located on the selection form mailed to you by Black Hills Energy.

ACE cannot predict the market so it’s not possible to tell customers which option will be the cheapest for the upcoming gas year. Fixed rate prices are based on the gas futures market. Market rate prices change each month according to actual market pricing.

CIG (Colorado Interstate Gas) index more accurately reflects the price of natural gas to our region. NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) is a publicly traded market, considered to be the national benchmark.
